The paper lacks methodological transparency, particularly in its simulation model validation, which makes its findings difficult to verify. Some economic and productivity claims (e.g., +129% efficiency in biogas) seem overstated without clear empirical support. Additionally, citation issues, including excessive self-citation, raise concerns about academic rigor. I invite the authors to address these issues to strengthen the study’s credibility and impact.

While the study discusses the environmental impact of modern dairy technologies, could the authors clarify whether a life cycle assessment (LCA) was conducted to evaluate their overall sustainability? Specifically, were emissions from energy-intensive technologies (e.g., automated milking systems, IoT sensors) factored into the analysis, and if so, how were these impacts quantified?

The concern regarding the inclusion of a life cycle assessment (LCA) is valid. While the study discusses the environmental impact of modern dairy technologies, a full LCA was not explicitly conducted. However, energy consumption from automated milking systems and IoT sensors was considered in the sustainability analysis using estimated emissions data. Future research could incorporate a more comprehensive LCA to quantify these impacts more precisely and provide a holistic view of the environmental trade-offs.

Regarding the methodological transparency of the simulation model, additional validation steps could strengthen the study’s findings. While model assumptions were based on industry benchmarks and expert consultation, further empirical testing or cross-validation with real-world farm data would enhance reliability.

Additionally, the reported +129% efficiency increase in biogas production was derived from controlled simulation scenarios. A more detailed explanation of input parameters and sensitivity analyses could clarify the realism of this claim.
