The study has notable methodological weaknesses, including a highly imbalanced sample (92% female), which limits generalizability, and a reliance on self-reported measures, with at least one scale (“empathic concern”) displaying poor reliability (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.44). While the regression model reports strong predictive power (R² = 0.61), multicollinearity issues (VIF >10) raise concerns about the validity of the findings. These statistical flaws should be carefully addressed to enhance the study’s robustness. I recommend that the authors thoroughly reevaluate these methodological concerns to improve the study’s rigor, clarity, and reliability.
