Beyond sampling bias, does the conflation of Information Technology with the broader Technology domain risk overlooking aspirational differences between, say, software engineering, data science, and IT support, thereby limiting the instrument’s nuance?
The instrument removes the item I want to study more X in the future for not directly measuring career aspiration. Could this removal inadvertently exclude individuals who are on a pathway to a STEM career but who haven’t yet crystallized that goal as a definitive “want”, thus missing a key predictive stage in the “leaky pipeline”?
