I find the disconnect between your lab and field results for temazepam quite striking. The fish showed no behavioural change in the scototaxis assay, yet migrated significantly faster in the field. That raises questions about whether the assay is ecologically relevant for smolts in a migratory state. Also, the lack of a dose-response in migration despite clear differences in tissue concentrations makes it harder to attribute the effect confidently to pharmacology. And with irbesartan, no tissue uptake but still a migration effect at low dose? That might just be noise, but it adds uncertainty. Overall, the data are interesting, but the interpretation feels stretched without stronger behavioural signals in the lab.
