This study presents promising findings on the antiallergic effects of Nelumbo nucifera rhizome extract, but a few areas could use further clarification. While the study follows OECD guidelines for acute toxicity assessment, were any subchronic or long-term toxicity evaluations considered to assess potential adverse effects beyond the 14-day observation period?

Additionally, the results indicate a significant reduction in allergic signs, but were any mechanistic studies conducted to confirm whether the extract directly modulates histamine release or other inflammatory mediators?
