The study effectively highlights differences in nitrite accumulation between T. sinensis and T. ciliata, focusing on NR and NiR gene families. However, environmental factors such as nitrogen availability or soil pH, which can influence NR and NiR activity and gene expression, are not addressed. Additionally, while TsNR2 is identified as a key contributor, further exploration of post-translational modifications or protein localization would provide a more detailed understanding of its elevated activity.
