The results present the efficacy of EOs in reducing fungal severity on apple fruits. While the results suggest significant antifungal activity, a few aspects require further clarification. Figure 3 shows that T. vulgaris had the strongest effect, particularly against B. cinerea, while R. officinalis was less effective. Was there a statistical interaction between EO type and pathogen species? Could pathogen-specific resistance mechanisms explain these variations? Apples were artificially wounded before inoculation and EO application. Were any measurements taken to assess whether EO treatments influenced wound healing, potentially confounding fungal growth results?
