Dear Editors,

I am writing in reference to the Special Issue titled “Special Issue on The 4th European Conference on Renewable Energy Systems (ECRES 2016), 28-31 August 2016, Istanbul, Turkey,” which you edited for the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.

Upon reviewing the papers published in this issue, I noticed that some articles appear to deviate significantly from the themes of hydrogen energy and renewable energy. For instance, one paper focused on “Modeling of a convective-infrared kiwifruit drying process” seems unrelated to the stated focus of the journal and the special issue.

This raises questions about the paper selection criteria and the review process employed for this issue. Could you kindly clarify the following:

1) Selection Process: How were the submitted manuscripts evaluated to ensure their alignment with the themes of hydrogen energy and renewable energy?
2) Review Process: What measures were taken during the peer-review process to uphold the relevance and scientific integrity of the publications?
3) Editorial Oversight: Were there any specific challenges in maintaining thematic coherence for the special issue?

Your insights would be invaluable in understanding the editorial standards and decision-making processes, and they could contribute to enhancing the coherence and quality of future special issues.

Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.

Dear Publisher and COPE,

I am writing to formally raise an issue regarding the Special Issue on The 4th European Conference on Renewable Energy Systems (ECRES 2016), 28-31 August 2016, Istanbul, Turkey, published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.

I previously reached out to the editors about a paper titled “Modeling of a convective-infrared kiwifruit drying process,” which seems unrelated to the themes of hydrogen energy and renewable energy. Despite my inquiries, I have not received any response or clarification on how the paper aligns with the scope of the journal and the special issue.

Given the apparent disconnect between this paper and the focus of the special issue, I am seeking your assistance in reviewing the selection and review process for this issue. Specifically, I would appreciate insights into how manuscripts were evaluated for thematic relevance and the measures taken to maintain scientific integrity.

Your attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration.
